Local, and UK-wide
Chester is home, and we regularly work across Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East, the Wirral, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and, just over the border, Flintshire and Wrexham. We also travel to clients right across the UK.
Who enforces what around Chester
Knowing who regulates what helps you get the right things in place:
- Fire safety: Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service enforces the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in Cheshire. Across the border, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service covers Flintshire and Wrexham.
- Workplace health and safety: for offices, shops, pubs, restaurants and hotels, it's usually Cheshire West and Chester Council's environmental health team. For construction, factories and many other workplaces, it's the HSE.
- HMOs and rented housing: HMO licensing in Chester is handled by Cheshire West and Chester Council. Properties in Wales fall under Welsh housing law, including registration with Rent Smart Wales.
Older buildings and a busy visitor economy
Chester's historic centre is full of older and listed buildings, conversions and flats above shops, alongside a busy hospitality and visitor economy. These buildings often have complex layouts, shared escape routes and features worth preserving. We're used to finding fire safety solutions that work for the building as well as the people in it.
